Eğitim fakültesi öğretim elemanlarının öğretmen yetiştirmeye ilişkin görüşleri

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the environment in which prospective teachers were being taught and the quality of prospective teachers. The descriptive study was conducted to reveal faculty members’ views on teacher preparation in Buca Faculty of Education, İzmir, Turkey. The data was gathered through interviews, analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques. According to the results; one third of the participants were satisfied with the courses and curricula to train qualified teachers, and yet, two third of them were not satisfied with it. Of the twenty one participants, only three thought that the teaching progress worked well, the courses reached their aims; five of them generally agreed the quality of prospective teachers, they expressed that some courses did not actually reach the aims. Most of the participants agreed that prospective teachers did not live the enthusiasm of being a teacher at all or they did up to a limited extent. In addition they affirmed that the faculty itself did not have sufficient classrooms, ateliers, laboratories and libraries, and the Internet facilities provided in the buildings were needed to be fixed up. Last and most importantly the participants speculated that teaching practices were not successful and did not achieve the aim of the teacher development programs.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, öğretmen adaylarının nasıl bir ortamda yetiştiklerini ve yetiştirilen öğretmenlerin niteliğini öğretim elemanlarının görüşlerine göre tartışmaktır. Buca Eğitim Fakültesi’nde gerçekleştirilen çalışmada veriler, nitel veri toplama tekniklerinden görüşme tekniğiyle toplanmış, betimsel veri çözümleme tekniğiyle çözümlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre; bazı katılımcılar, iyi öğretmen yetiştirmek için öğretim programlarını ve programlarda yer alan dersleri yeterli görmesine karşın, bazı katılımcılar yeterli görmemektedir. Çok az sayıda katılımcı (3 kişi), öğretim sürecinin iyi işlediğini ve derslerin hedeflerine ulaştığını; bazı katılımcılar ise genel olarak iyi öğretmen yetiştirilmesine karşın, bazı derslerde hedeflere ulaşmada sorunlar yaşandığını düşünmektedir. Katılımcıların büyük bir çoğunluğu öğretmen adaylarının öğretmenlik coşkusunu ya hiç yaşamadıklarını ya da yeterince yaşamadıklarını vurgulamaktadır. Ayrıca fakültenin derslik, atölye, laboratuar, kütüphane gibi öğretim ortamları ve internet olanakları bakımından yetersiz olduğunu; öğretmenlik uygulamasının başarılı olmadığını, hedefine ulaşmadığını düşünmektedirler.
