Öz:Methemoglobin (MetHb), hemoglobin molekülündeki Fe+2’nin Fe+3 şeklinde okside formda olmasını tanımlar. Konjenital ya da edinsel olabilir. Edinsel methemoglobinemi yapan çok sayıda ajan bilinmektedir. Kan MetHb düzeyi %55’in üze- rinde ise fatal seydedebilir.
Başlık (İngilizce):A case of methemoglobinemia developing due to local prilocaine usage prior to circumcision
Öz (İngilizce):Methemoglobinemia is a disorder characterized by the presence of a higher than normal level of ferric (Fe+3) rarer man ferrous (Fe+2) hemoglobin. It may be in two forms, congenital or acquired methemoglobinemia. It is known that many agents can cause acquired methemoglobinemia. If the blood methemoglobin level reaches 55%, it can be lethal. Prompt care is needed in this situation. Here, a 4-month-old boy with acquired methemoglobinemia due to prilocaine use is presented. Methylene blue was used in the treatment of this case. The treatment enabled a dramatic improvement and was life saving. |
