Özet:
The aim of this study was to investigate the relation between emphatic orientation
and democratic values of primary school teacher who worked in public schools and
private schools in Malatya Province. The study was conducted out using survey
technique. The sample size of this study consisted of 300 teachers in Malatya in
between 2014-2015 academic year. It was used three different data collect tools. The
first one was “Personal Information Form” which was designed by the researches. The
second was “Empathy Tendency Scale” which was developed by Dökmen (1988). And
the last one was “Classroom Teachers Democratic Measurement Test” which was
developed by Selvi (2007). The data was analyzed with, SPSS 20.0 package
programme.as results, it was found that there was a significant difference in gender
variable for emphatic tendency; however there wasn’t a significant statistically
difference for age, seniority and marital status. It has found that there was a
significant difference for seniority, in democratic values of teachers. It was determined
that there was a positive relation in low level between emphatic tendency
predisposition and democratic values of the primary school teachers. In conclusion the
results suggest the more classroom teachers have emphatic tendency values the more
they have democratic values.
