Küreselleşme süreciyle birlikte ülkelerin birbirleriyle olan rekabeti artmaya başlamıştır. İnovasyon da bu rekabet ortamında ülkelerin önde olmasını sağlayan önemli bir yapı olmuştur. İnovasyon, üretim sürecinde sağladığı maliyet ve teknolojik avantajlarla ülkelerin gelişmesine katkı sunmaktadır. Teknolojik gelişimle birlikte elde edilen kazanımlar ülkelerin dış ticarette rekabet gücünün artmasına yardımcı olmaktadır. Üretim ve dış ticarette inovasyon temelli sağlanan performans artışı sonucunda katma değeri yüksek ürünlerin üretilmesi sağlanmaktadır. İnovasyon sayesinde ülkeler dış ticarette sahip oldukları etkinliklerini artırabilmektedirler. Dış ticaret performansının belirlenmesinde inovasyonun etkinliğinin sınandığı bu çalışmada Türkiye ve BRICS ülkeleri için bir araştırma yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada inovasyon göstergesi olarak temel göstergeler, teknolojik ve beşeri sermaye göstergeleri, finansal göstergeler, çevresel göstergeler ve kurumsal göstergeler başlığı altında yer alan değişkenler kullanılmıştır. Temel göstergeler için; patent başvuru sayısı, marka başvuru sayısı, endüstriyel tasarım uygulama sayısı, faydalı model uygulama sayısı ve Ar-Ge harcaması kullanılmıştır. Teknolojik ve beşeri sermaye göstergeleri için; eğitim harcaması, ileri teknoloji ihracatı, internet kullanım oranı ile bilimsel ve teknik makaleler kullanılmıştır. Finansal göstergeler için; M2 ve toplam kredi miktarı değerleri kullanılmıştır. Çevresel göstergeler için; CO2 emisyonu ve enerji tüketimi kullanılırken, kurumsal göstergeler için politik istikrar, hükümetin etkinliği, hukuk kurallarına uyum ve yolsuzluğun kontrolü değişkenleri kullanılmıştır. Panel veri analizinin yapıldığı çalışmada 2000-2018 yılları için bir araştırma yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada başlangıçta değişkenlerin tanımlayıcı istatistiklerine yer verilmiş, sonrasında değişen varyans ve otokorelasyonun varlığı araştırılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultusunda Arellano (1987), Froot (1989) ve Rogers (1993) tahmincisiyle değişkenlerin katsayısı yorumlanmıştır. Yatay kesit analiziyle seriye ait birim kök analizinin tespiti yapılmıştır. CADF (2006) ve SURADF (2001) birim kök testleriyle değişkenlerin durağanlığı belirlenmiştir. Durbin Hausman (2008) eşbütünleşme testiyle değişkenlerin birbiriyle olan uzun dönemli ilişkisi ortaya koyulmuştur. Augmented Mean Group (2010) tahmin edicisiyle modele ait değerler yorumlanmıştır. Son olarak yapılan Emirmahmutoğlu ve Köse (2011) panel nedensellik analizi yardımıyla da değişkenler arasındaki nedensellik ilişkisi ortaya koyulmuştur. Yapılan nedensellik analizi sonucunda Brezilya'nın dış ticaret performansında finansal ve çevresel inovasyon göstergelerinin etkili olduğu, Rusya'nın dış ticaret performansında finansal, teknolojik ve beşeri sermaye göstergelerinin etkili olduğu, Hindistan'ın dış ticaret performansında temel göstergeler, finansal, teknolojik ve beşeri sermaye ile kurumsal göstergelerin etkili olduğu görülmüştür. Çin'in dış ticaret performansında temel göstergeler, teknolojik ve beşeri sermaye göstergeleri, finansal göstergeler, çevresel göstergeler ve kurumsal göstergelerin etkili olduğu görülmüştür. Güney Afrika'nın dış ticaret performansında çevresel inovasyon göstergelerinin etkili olduğu, Türkiye'nin dış ticaret performansında ise temel göstergeler, teknolojik ve beşeri sermaye ile kurumsal göstergelerin etkili olduğu görülmüştür.
The competition among countires has started to increase with globalisation process. Innovation has been a significant structure enabling the countries to be ahead in this competitive environment. Innovation contributes to the development of countries positviely with the cost and technological advantages it offers during manufacturing process. The gains obtained with the technological development help countries enhance their competitiveness in foreign trade. Innovation-based performance increase in production and foreign trade expands the production of high-added value products. Countries can build up their place in foreign trade thanks to innovation. In this study in which the effectiveness of innovation on specifying foreign trade performance, a study has been conducted for Turkey and the BRICS. In the study, the variables used under the heading of innovation indicators are basic indicators, technological and human capital indicators, financial and environmental indicators and corporate ones. As for the basic indicators; the number of patent, trademark, industrial design, and utility model applications as well as R&D expenditures are used. For the technological and human capital indicators; education expenditures, advanced-technology exports, the Internet usage rate and scientific and technical articles are used. M2 and total loan values are used as financial indicators. Moreover, while CO2 emmision and energy consumption are used as environmental indicators, variables like political stability, effectiveness of the government, legal compliance and the control over corruption are used as corporate indicators. In the study in which panel data analysis is made, a study is conducted for the years 2000-2018. In the study, the descriptive statistics of the variables are given first, and then the existance of None Constant Variance and autocorrelation is investigated. In line with the results obtained, the coefficients of the variables were interpreted with the estimators of Arellano (1987), Froot (1989) and Rogers (1993). The unit root analysis of the series is determined by cross-section analysis. The stability of the variables is specified with CADF (2006) and SURADF (2001) unit root tests. Durbin Hausman (2008) has revealed the long-term relationships between variables with cointegration tests. The values belonging to the model are determined with Augmented Mean Group (2010) predictor. Finally, the causality correlation between variables is revealed with the help of panel causality analysis by Emirmahmutoğlu and Köse (2011). As a result of the causality analysis, it is concluded that financial and environmental indicators are influential in the foreign trade performance of Brazil while it is the financial and human capital indicators in Russia. As for India, basic indicators, technological and human capital indicators as well as corporate ones are the leading indicators in the foreign trade performance. China, basic indicators, technological and human capital indicators, financial indicators, environmental indicators and as well as corporate ones are the leading indicators in the foreign trade performance. It is also settled that there is a correlation between environmental indicators and corporate indicators foreign trade performance in South Africa while that correlation is between basic indicators, technological and human capital indicators, corporate indicators and foreign trade performance of Turkey.
